Anthony Rojo Scholarship
Purpose:
Anthony Rojo worked at GTC for 12 rewarding years as division director of Gwinnett Tech’s Computer Science program. Sadly, Anthony passed in May of 2012, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. His wife, children, and family were his greatest joys in life and he loved his work at Gwinnett Tech. Anthony has been greatly missed by his family, many dear friends, and co-workers. In memory of Anthony, a scholarship was dedicated in his name in 2014 for students enrolled in the Computer Information Systems degree program.
Eligibility Requirements:
In order to be eligible for the Anthony Rojo Memorial Scholarship, a student must:
- Have been admitted into an associate’s degree program within the division of Computer Information Systems (CIS) at Gwinnett Technical College
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Prepare a 300-word essay expressing how the scholarship will benefit the applicant and why the applicant chose CIS as a career. Share future educational plans and career goals, and any financial or personal circumstances which you feel are important for the Selection Committee to consider in its evaluation
Applications cannot be processed unless all required documentation is attached to the application at time of submittal.
Scholarship funds are to be used for tuition, books, and program supplies used solely for the benefit of the individual receiving the scholarship. Before funds will be disbursed, the Foundation office must receive a note of thanks from the recipient to the donor(s).
Selection:
The Gwinnett Tech Foundation committee will select and notify the scholarship recipients.
Termination:
If the recipient fails to enroll, withdraws from college, or does not maintain eligibility requirements, the Gwinnett Tech Foundation will select another student if time permits; otherwise, funds will be held in the donor’s account to be carried over to the next semester.
