The Clarke Family
Ione Huff Clarke pursued a nursing career that spanned 40 years. Paying tribute to her life in nursing and memorializing her life in the Gwinnett community, The Clarke Family Nursing Scholarship was established and is funded by the estate of Elmer and Ione Clark through their sons James, Gary and David.
Clarke, who passed away in 2011 at the age of 91, was born in Duluth, Ga., in 1920. She earned a degree from West Georgia College and later graduated from the Macon School of Nursing. During the course of her nursing career, Clarke worked in pediatrics, plus operating and emergency room areas.
Recognizing the difficulties many students face when trying to finance their education, the Clarke Family Nursing Scholarship Fund is endowed at Gwinnett Tech and provides scholarships to deserving first and second year nursing students who have distinguished themselves and have demonstrated financial need.
